PATH VALLEY HONORS 2007 SEASON CHAMPIONS

More than 400 joined Two Wheel Promotions in honoring the top 2007 Path Valley Speedway racers Nov. 17 at the annual awards banquet at the Pleasant Hall Fire Company.

Eight Friday night stock car and sprint racers and five Saturday strictly stock racers were named champions for 2007, along with a host of AMA track motorcycle champions. In addition to trophies and prize money, each champion received a custom racing jacket from Goshorn Racing Supplies.

The Friday night champions are: Tom Tice in 270 Sprints, Heath Hehnly in 600 Sprints, Mike Freet in 305 Sprints, Steve Nederostek in Legends, Kevin Thomas in Mini Stock, John Rasp in Thunder Cars, Donnie Hendershot in Sidewinders, and Josh Berrier in Superstocks.

The Saturday champions are Frankie Gordon in Four-Cylinder, Jeff Dickens in Six-Cylinder, Both Jason Ege and Joe Daywalt in V-8, and Rob Keller in Strictly Stock Trucks.

Special Awards for Rookie of the Year went to Colby Dice in 270 Sprints and to Craig Laudermilch in 305 Sprints. “Cowboy” James Kennedy won the Hard Charger award in 305 Sprints, and Jason Houtz won the Most Improved award in 270 Sprints.

Race Director John Winsett thanked all of the drivers, owners and team supporters for the best season ever at Path Valley and told them that the 2008 season will open with Bug Day for all classes of Friday and Saturday cars and sprints on March 22, with a rain date of March 23. He said a complete schedule will be available in early December pending a meeting on AMA motorcycle race dates. He also presented perfect attendance awards to more than 40 drivers.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. From March to October, Path Valley races stock cars and sprints Friday nights and AMA bikes or Strictly Stock junkyard cars Saturday nights.
