FEDDER WINS $1000 IN PATH VALLEY LATE MODELS

Friday, May 2, 2008

Tim Fedder flew on three wheels ahead of Andy Fries and then Brad Kling through 25 fast laps to take home the $1000 to win and the Bair’s Gulf Race Night trophy Friday night at the Path Valley Speedway Park.

Past champion Jimmy Brookens got his first win of the season in 600 Sprints and Sean Good won in 270 Sprints. The Legends win was the first ever for Scott Houdeshell. Local stock car wins went to Terry Smith in the Thunder Cars and Jeremy Ott in Mini Stocks.

The Legends and Late Models are off next Friday night, May 9, with the full size 305 Sprints and the Sidewinders replacing them.

Tim Fedder started third in the Late Models and pulled alongside Brad Kling on lap two, then took the lead and dashed ahead of both Kline and Andy Fries all 25 laps to the checkers. His $1000 to win was a special prize from Two Wheel Promotions enabling the five extra laps and the trophies for all were presented by Bair’s Gulf in Spring Run. Fries won the heat race and the hard charger award and the front five finishers were Fedder, Kling, Fries, Shaun Jones and Jerry Bard.

Sean Good started out to run away with the 270 Sprints feature, but Sean McAndrews weaved his way out of an 11th place start to challenge and pull alongside by lap 15, eating up Good’s half-track lead. McAndrews never completed the pass, however, and Good won by a length. The front five finishers were Good, McAndrews, Steve Whary, Amanda Schlegel and Jason Houtz and Good and McAndrews won the heat races.

Jeremy Ott charged out of fourth place to take the Mini Stock lead on lap two and never give it up. Ricky Harper eased into second on lap 12 but never managed a pass. The front five were Ott, Harper, Frank Gordon, Gary Dehart and Gary Newell. Heat winner was Dehart.

Scott Houdeschell took the lead from a fifth place start on lap 9 of the Legends feature when Jason Ewing and Butch Brough tangled in turn four and put themselves out. Houdeshell dashed ahead of Shawn Arndt and then in the last lap Greg Burd, through three more crashes and cautions, for his first win at Path Valley. The front five were Houdeshell, Burd, Arndt, Reed Salony and Denny Willey and the heat winners were Arndt, Ewing and Burd.

On lap nine of the 600 Sprints feature past champion Jimmy Brookens passed pole started Jim Young on the inside of turn four and then built up a lead of a full turn as he dashed to the finish. The front five finishers were Brookens, Young, Dwayne Gutshall, Eric Bodine and Travis Saner and the heat winners were Saner, Bodine and Kohler.

Terry Smith struggled out of third place to take the Thunder Car lead from Mark Grove on lap 14. The front five finishers after some thrilling breaks and restarts were Smith, Denny Scofield, Buddy Smith, Bill Kennedy and Mike Brindle. The heat winners were Lawrence and Scofield.
