DEMOLITION  DERBY 

SAFETY AND CAR  SPECIFICATIONS

 

  1. All factory stock American-made hardtop automobiles and station wagons are allowed (exceptions: no Chrysler Imperials will be allowed unless 1967 or newer with a uni-type frame).  No Chrysler Imperials, Jeeps, trucks, or 4 wheel drive vehicles.  Foreign cars will be allowed to enter small car heats.
  2. All drivers must wear approved safety helmets.  Full-face helmets or factory installed shoulder

strap seat belt required.  Lap safety belts are required and must be worn until heat is completed.

Long trousers, long sleeve shirts, boots and gloves are required.

  1. Drivers must stay inside the car and keep helmet on until heat is completed, unless instructed otherwise

by track official(s).

  1. All dirt, glass and loose parts must be removed from the car.  Do not leave broken glass in doors.
  2. All glass, including headlights and taillights must be removed except the front windshield.  Removal

of windshield is optional.

  1. All chrome molding, rear seat, headliner, sun visors and rear view mirrors must be removed.
  2. All outside plastic and grill must be removed, including factory nosepieces.
  3. Stock gas tank must be removed.
  4. A maximum of 3 gallons of gas is allowed.  A 5-gallon, approved metal container must be securely fastened in the area vacated by the rear seat.  No rubber hold-down straps allowed.  Marine type gas tank highly recommended.  Approved marine-type plastic tanks are permitted.   All electric fuel pumps must be operated by the key switch (turned On-Off).
  5. No modifications allowed to the car body and frame. No truck bumpers allowed.
  6. Inner driver door upholstery panel or padding is required.  External reinforcement of driver’s door is strongly recommended.  Maximum of 1/4” steel plate 12” high welded to the driver’s door plus maximum of 8” in front of driver’s door will be allowed (no steel bars or tubing).
  7. Protective reinforcement is allowed only at driver’s door.
  8. No bumper or frame mounted hitches allowed.
  9. Hood and trunk lids must be opened for inspection (this includes rear inner deck of station wagons).
  10. Hood, trunk or rear station wagon door must be secured after inspection (maximum 4 locations each).  Minimum ¼” or maximum 3/8” chain or cable.  No “X”-ing of chains or cables on trunk or hood.  No Readyrod to frame connections, if welded, 4 locations maximum, 6” each weld maximum.
  11. There must be a hold in the hood of the car that measures at least 12” in diameter above the carburetor.
  12. All doors must be fastened shut by a solid steel strop, chains, cable or by welding.  Minimum ¼” chain or cable.  Maximum chain or cable size, 3/8”.
  13. Battery must be securely fastened to the front seat passenger’s floorboard.  No rubber straps allowed.  Top of battery must be covered with a secured rubber mat.
  14. All cars must have a working foot-operated hydraulic brake system.
  15. No fan blades are allowed except electric operated fans.
  16. All cooling systems must be original equipment or less and must be located in the engine compartment under the hood.  No cooling systems (motor oil, transmission or water) allowed in driver’s compartment. No auxiliary tanks allowed.  Radiator overflow hoses must exit downward.
  17. Exhaust exiting through hood is permitted, but must be roof level or above.
  18. All air conditioning systems must be drained and rubber hoses removed.  Must be done prior to arrival at track.
  19. No studded tires on drive axles.  NO LIQUID ALLOWED IN TIRES!
  20. All wheel balancing weights must be removed.
  21. All cars must have vehicle numbers clearly painted on each side and on the roof of the vehicle.  Numbers must be visible to the announcer.  Car number must match number on entry form.
  22. Painting the driver’s door white is recommended.
  23. No deliberate head-on collisions or hitting the driver’s door.  Doing either of these will result in disqualification.
  24. You may drive forward or backwards.
  25. Tires must be D.O.T. approved.  No heavy truck trucks tires allowed.  Only 1 tire per wheel.
  26. Any car that does not move for one minute will be disqualified.
  27. Heat winners must run same car in feature.
  28. No passengers riding on or in demo derby cars or tow vehicles at any time.  This includes pit area, parking lot and driveways.
  29. 5 MPH speed limit must be maintained at all times in pit area, parking lot and driveways.
  30. You may NOT paint profanity on cars.
  31. The only people allowed on the track at any time will be drivers, officials and towing personnel.
  32. Any driver that does not obey the rules will be disqualified.
  33. OFFICIAL’S  DECISIONS  ARE  FINAL!

 

The rules and regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of competition events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events.  These rules shall govern the conditions of all events, and, by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.  NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS.  They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

 

The event director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.  NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS.  Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.

PATH  VALLEY  SPEEDWAY  PARK  DEMOLITION  DERBY  RULES

 

The demolition derby is designed and promoted as an unusual spectator attraction, and in the interest of safety, anyone entering is subject to the following rules and regulations that are hereby set forth by the track:

 

A.     All drivers must fill out an entry form and a release form before taking part in an event.  Forms are due in the Path Valley Speedway Park office by event day.

B.     Path Valley officials reserve the right to approve or reject any, and all, applications.

C.     No driver or pit crew member may use alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs/substances prior to or during event.   If alcohol consumption or illegal drug/substance use is observed, disqualification and escort off track premises will occur.  DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THEIR CREWS!

D.     Verbal or physical abuse toward any participant or track official will result in automatic disqualification.

E.      All derby cars will be inspected.

F.      Only participating derby cars and service vehicles will be permitted in the pit area.  All other vehicles must be parked outside the pit area.

G.     A maximum of 100 entries will be accepted, first come- first serve.  All entries in excess of 100 will be given first option to enter the next derby scheduled.

H.     Car number must be on car.

 

DRIVER’S   ENTRY

 

1.       Drivers must be at least 16 years old to participate.

2.       Entry fee is $15.00 per car.

3.       Mandatory driver’s meeting must be attended by all drivers.

4.       Driver’s license or photo ID required at registration.

 

When you bring your car to the track, it will be inspected for all items on the Safety and Car specification list attached and general workmanship in preparing the car.  When the car is accepted for competition, it will be assigned to a heat event and will be assigned to an area in the pits.

 

All winning cars from the heat events will be located in a designated area in the pits.   All non-winning cars will return to the assigned pit area until the feature event is completed.  Auto recyclers will be at the track to buy cars after the event.  All cars must be removed from the track by 12:00 noon on the Monday following the event.  Do not leave any car parts or debris at the track.

 

INJURIES, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, MUST BE IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO THE OFFICIAL IN CHARGE.  WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE ANY INJURIES AT ALL – BE SMART – FOLLOW THE RULES!

RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS NECESSARY FOR SAFETY REASONS.

 

            Winner of each heat receives $50.00.  To be a winner, a driver must be the last to make contact and then be able to move the car at least 12 inches in any direction.  Runner-up receives $25.00.  If heat winner cannot compete in main feature, the runner-up is eligible to compete in his or her place.

 

            The winner of the main feature event wins $300.00.  The runner-up wins $100.00.  The same rules apply – driver must be last to make contact and be able to move the car 12 inches.

      NOTE:  cars should be at Path Valley Speedway Park and registered no later than 4:00 p.m.

      so they can be inspected.

In consideration of being granted an opportunity to compete at any or all events promoted by Path Valley Speedway Park and intending to be legally bound hereby:

 

I, for myself, my heirs, personal representatives and assigns, HEREBY RELEASE,DISCHARGE AND AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY, the promoters, property owners, and participants in scheduled events, the owners, sponsors, and manufacturers of all racing equipment upon the premises, and the officers, directors, officials, representatives, agents and employees of all of them, OF AN FROM ALL LIABILITY, LOSS, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, AND POSSIBLE CAUSES OF ACTION that may otherwise accrue FROM ANY LOSS DAMAGE, OR INJURY (INCLUDING DEATH) TO MY PERSON OR PROPERTY, in any way resulting from or arising from, or arising in connection with, or related to any scheduled or unscheduled event, and whether arising while engaged in competition or in practice or preparation therefore, or while upon, entering, or departing from said premises, from any cause whatsoever including without limitations the failure of anyone to enforce rules and regulations, failure to make inspections, or the negligence of other persons.  I KNOW AND ASSUME THE RISK AND DANGER TO MYSELF AND PROPERTY while upon said premises or while participating or assisting in a scheduled or unscheduled event and  I DO SO VOLUNTARILY AND IN RELIANCE, not upon property, equipment, facilities and existing conditions furnished by others, but UPON MY OWN JUDGEMENT AND ABILITY, and I hereby EXPRESSLY ASSUME ALL RISK FOR LOSS, DAMAGE, OR INJURY (INCLUDING DEATH), TO MYSELF AND MY PROPERTY from any cause whatsoever and whether or not attributable to the negligence or others, being full aware of the effects and consequences hereof.

 

I hereby certify that as an independent contractor, I expressly assume all responsibility for all charges, premiums, and taxes, if any, payable on any funds that I may receive as a result of my competitive activities, including without limitation social security taxes, unemployment insurance taxes, compensation insurance, income taxes, and withholding taxes.
